Block Printing Workshop 3 hrs

Have a go at block printing fabric with dyes.

In this workshop, you’ll explore pattern, scale, and composition through hand-carved wooden blocks especially designed for this class. Using traditional printing techniques, you’ll prepare fabric, print by hand, steam to fix the colour, and wash out your finished pieces.

I haven’t yet been lucky enough to travel to India, but I am endlessly inspired by the artisans who invented this marvellous technique. Despite centuries of industrial challenges and cultural misappropriation, the method survives, carefully preserved by the communities who have practised it for generations.

In this class, the method is simplified so you can enjoy the process, see instant results, and leave with a small collection of printed fabric samples. Suitable for beginners as well as those with printing experience, the workshop offers a tactile, rewarding way to experiment with colour, design, and form whilst meeting others.

All materials, dyes, and fabric samples are included.

Aunque no he viajado a la India, me inspiran los artesanos que crearon esta técnica. A pesar de siglos de desafíos industriales y de la apropiación cultural desde Occidente, el método sigue vivo gracias a las comunidades que lo han transmitido de generación en generación.
